The Washington D.C. Fire & EMS KME Air Unit scale models include over 450 intricately detailed parts. Stainless steel is the main material for all the fine details including window trim, antennas, mudflaps, various logos, slamlocks, cab access steps and much more. A team of 35 skilled craftsmen and women patiently trim, glue and assembly every component...some so small that a razor-sharp tweezers is required for handling. Syringes are used to apply a minute amount of glue behind each incredibly fine part. Patience, keen eyesight and a very steady hand are the tools of the trade in each hand-crafted Fire Replicas model. Enjoy your walk alongside the assembly lines of this KME Air Unit scale model.

Washington DC Fire Air/light Unit 2

Posted by Chris O on 8th Aug 2021

Once again Fire Replicas drops an absolute bomb on the collecting world that’s full of precision, detail and unmistakable quality. You can actually see detail in the 2 windshield defrosting fans and keys on the keyboard of the doghouse mounted laptop. The stainless steel parts seem to keep getting smaller but more precise with every release. Although it’s a simple piece of apparatus, no pump or aerial device, it doesn’t lack in parts which accentuate details. For example, there is a license plate light, left rear and on the officer’s side , right rear the same light illuminates the dealer logo. Also on the rear is a ladder which provides safe access to the roof, coffin cabinets and inspection of the two Command Light towers. The accuracy of that ladder is phenomenal. As is typical with Fire Replicas, a person can gawk at any respective model for hours and pick out new details. It’s another great addition to the ever growing Washington DC fire and EMS fleet. My only complaint is, someone neglected to supply keys to ignite the generator so we can see the command light towers in action.
