History of Engine 50 & Ladder 23

Detroit Engine 50 and Ladder 23 were organized in 1925 at a brand new station at 12975 Houston. Detroit grew by 58% in the 20’s as people were immigrating or moving North for the jobs in the Motor city. Detroit was now the 4th largest city in the United States. In 1979 Engine 50 was disbanded, this was short lived as they were reorganized again in 1980. The 1925 station is still an active station with both Engine 50 and Ladder 23. Today Engine 50 is running a 2017 Ferrara Cinder 1500/500 engine. Detroit received 8 of these in 2017. - Joe O'Brien

And having the good fortune of riding along with DFD E50 my last trip home, the detail in every area of this Engine is unreal. Keep up the great work.
