Assembly pics of Washington DC Fire & EMS Engine scale models

The Washington D.C. Fire & EMS Pierce Arrow XT Pumper scale models are comprised of over 500 intricately detailed parts. Stainless steel is the main material for all the fine details including window trim, access doors, mudflaps, various logos, slamlocks, cab access steps and much more. A team of 35 skilled craftsmen and women patiently trim, glue and assembly every component...some so small that a razor-sharp tweezers is required for handling. Syringes are used to apply a minute amount of glue behind each incredibly fine part. Patience, keen eyesight and a very steady hand are the tools of the trade in each hand-crafted Fire Replicas model. Enjoy your walk alongside the assembly lines of the DC Pierce Pumpers.

DCFD E25, Congress Heights. Pierce Arrow XT pumper..

Posted by Martin MacKinnon on 21st Feb 2022

I went to Washington, D.C. in 2004 & visited the various historical sites & museums there. I'm still full of wonder regarding the place. Also, my friend Bill Hattersley & I visited both the Pierce & Seagrave manufacturing facilities on consecutive days in May, 2018. Coincidentally, they were both building pumpers for the D.C.F.D. So, to commemorate our visit to Pierce & Seagrave, I decided to acquire one of each of the 2 brands of pumpers. I chose E25 as my Pierce model, since it was on sale with the biggest discount. All the models were extremely desirable, so price became the sole determinant as to which model to choose. It's interesting to note that although both manufacturers built their pumpers to the same general specification, particularly regarding equipment locations, there are still equipment differences between the way that they fulfilled the required specifications. For example, the air conditioners are quite a bit different. Seeing the 2 rigs in my collection always evokes fond memories of a fun trip from Detroit all the way back to Vancouver, B.C.

All of the fire replicas are SUPERB. I didn’t think anything would equal TWH in detail, but you have surpassed it.

Once again the Fire Replicas “Shock and Awe” team went into DEFCON 5 mode when replicating the Pierce Arrow XTs. The quality, accuracy, crispness and realism is jaw dropping. If you want to see a model Fire apparatus Collector beg for mercy, show them a DC Pierce Arrow XT. While all 5 companies are identical they each have unique Identifying markings, I.E, Colored LDH lines on the rear step, finite decals on supply lines and attack lines, high rise hose packs differ from company to company. The amount of decals and how small they are is mind boggling, safety and warning decals, company markings, numbered cabinets etc etc etc. Hands down, absolutely gorgeous replicas, a welcome addition to my ever growing collection .
