Assembly pictures of Chicago's Classic 1972 American LaFrance Pumpers

Character, style and personalization epitomize the American LaFrance pumpers that served Chicago throughout the 1970's. Producing replicas of these beautiful rigs that are small enough to fit nicely on a shelf, has been a painstaking process. Over 18 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add these Classic Chicago pumpers to your collection.

Engine Co. 103's History by Joe O'Brien

Chicago Fire Department Engine 103 “West Loop Troops" was organized in 1806 at a brand new 2 story, 1 bay firehouse at 1459 W. Harrison. A year later a 2 story annex was added for Chief Horan’s automobile. In 1969 Engine 103 would move to 25 S. Laflin. The Firehouse on Laflin was built in 1927 and was the quarters of Truck 39. On the day of the move Truck 39 was taken out of service. The building, 21 years more modern that Engine 103’s old house still stands and is still the quarters of Engine 103. In 1972 Engine 103 received its ALF 2000/500 gpm engine. Today Engine 103 runs a 2018 E-One. Fire Replicas also produced the 1959 Mack B ladder used by Truck 39 from this firehouse.

    Stunning looking model

This model is just stunning looking. Fire Replicas nailed the curves of the iconic looking ALF. The Chicago piece looks great with the Mars Aurora Borealis and 888's on the roof and front. The Chicago model was a perfect choice!
