Assembly pictures of Chicago's E-One Cyclone II Pumper scale model

Producing a replica of the Chicago Fire Department E-One Cyclone II Engines that is small enough to take home, is a painstaking process. Over 13 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add this modern workhorse to your Chicago collection.

About Engine 30 by Joe O'Brien

Engine 30 was organized in 1881 at 1125 N. Ashland Ave in a 2 Story 1 bay brick Firehouse. This is the oldest active firehouse in Chicago and a testament to the late 1800’s construction. The front of the building was change in 1930 when Ashland Ave, was being widened, 17 feet of the front of the building was removed and a new brick front wall was created. At one point the building had a Neon sign the lite up saying “FIRE DEPT”. Engine 30 is a single company house. The area was settled by the Polish, Ukrainian's, and German’s. After the Chicago Fire this area grew as many of the displaced people moved and built here. Engine 30 is known as the "Ashland Ave. Bomberos".
