Assembly pictures of Chicago's E-One Cyclone II Pumper scale model

Producing a replica of the Chicago Fire Department E-One Cyclone II Engines that is small enough to take home, is a painstaking process. Over 13 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add this modern workhorse to your Chicago collection.

About Engine 43 by Joe O'Brien

Engine 43 was organized in 1887 with Truck 14 at 2179 N Stave St. when the Town of Jefferson Park was annexed into Chicago. The original firehouse was built in 1883 and used by the Jefferson Park volunteer fire department’s Engine 1, Chemical 1, and Hook & Ladder . In 1916 the building was torn down and a new 2 story 2 bay firehouse replaced it at the same address. Truck 13 move out in 1890 to a new firehouse at Diversey and Rockwell. The new firehouse had a bay floor size of 39 x 5, when Engine 43 moved into the new house they were given a motorized engine steamer which was a 1916 Christie/Ahrens, the hose wagon was a 1912 Harder. In 1919 Squad 6 was organized in this house. Squad 6’s 1952 Autocar was also produced by Fire Replicas. For you Backdraft or Chicago Fire fans, Engine 51 ran from this house from 1976 to 1980 due to the high number of arson fires in Humboldt Park Engine 51 was taken out of service here. Engine 43 has a patch displaying the area of "Logan Square".
