Assembly pictures of Chicago's E-One Cyclone II Pumper scale model

Producing a replica of the Chicago Fire Department E-One Cyclone II Engines that is small enough to take home, is a painstaking process. Over 13 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add this modern workhorse to your Chicago collection.

About Engine 39 by Joe O'Brien

Engine 39 was organized in 1886 at 1618 W. 33rd place in a 2 Story 1 bay brick Firehouse. This is the second oldest active firehouse in Chicago and is situated in a neighborhood of 2.5 story houses. Engine 39 is in the McKinley Park neighborhood of Chicago which is the geographic center of Chicago. The area was settled by the Irish in 1836 who worked on the Illinois & Michigan canal. The city annexed the area then called Brighton Park in 1863 as the rail lines expanded. in 1901 after President William McKinley was assassination the area and parks became McKinley in his honor. Has a patch with the old steam engine on it.
