Assembly pictures of Chicago's E-One Cyclone II Pumper scale model

Producing a replica of the Chicago Fire Department E-One Cyclone II Engines that is small enough to take home, is a painstaking process. Over 13 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add this modern workhorse to your Chicago collection.

About Engine 81 by Joe O'Brien

Engine 81 was organized in 1891 at 105th and Hoxie on the far southeast side in the Pulliam and Illinois Central Railroad area. In 1936 the old frame firehouse was torn down and a new 1 bay 2 story brick firehouse was built on the same spot. From 1946 until 1955 Engine 81 was a combination rig using a 1932 ALF truck. In 1956 they would get the Mack B with the 200-gallon tank, this rig was Replicated by Fire Replicas.  Truck 17 would move into an annex that was built at the firehouse on Hoxie. Engine 81 is known as the “We own the Knight” is a Single Engine house again.
